WOMAN SAVED A STRAY DOG 17 YEARS AGO, AND NOW SHE HAS TO SAY GOODBYE TO HIM

WE HAVE ALWAYS ADMIRED PEOPLE WHO RESCUE AND ADOPT A STRAY DOG. THESE KIND OF PEOPLE ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE THE BIGGEST AND KINDEST HEARTS.
The selfless act of taking the time, the effort, and shouldering the responsibility of taking care of a dog in need deserves our admiration and praise. This woman named Jesusita is one of these amazing and wonderful people. 17 years ago, a stray dog showed up at her doorstep and when she saw him, she knew they were destined to meet.
Jesusita didn’t have much, but she didn’t hesitate to take the dog under her care. She named the dog Solovino, which means “he came alone” in Spanish.

Solovino was loyal to Jesusita. Ever since they met, he never left Jesuita’s side. For years Solovino has stayed with Jesusita, as her sweet and faithful companion.

But years passed, and getting old is inevitable. Ailments started to show up with Solovino’s age. He had advanced arthritis and he was having a hard time walking. Time came when ever step was painful for Solovino. Jesusita didn’t want Solovino to suffer anymore. So she knew that it was time for her to say goodbye to her faithful friend.

Kerry Armstrong, founder of Home Dog LA, told The Dodo that they got a call from a woman who needed help in humanely putting down her 17-year-old dog. Home Dog LA is an organization that helps economically stressed families with their pets. And since Jesusita didn’t have much, they knew that they had to help her, especially during that sad time.

Sandra Shadic, a member of Home Dog LA, went to Jesusita’s home to help transport Solovino. But before taking him to the clinic, they gave Solovino a special treat. The three enjoyed a hamburger meal together. That was Jesusita’s last meal with her loyal friend.

They then took Solovino to the clinic. And after Jesusita said her final goodbyes, Solovino was put to sleep.

Run free, Solovino…

It’s hard and painful to see our furry best friends leave the world, but it would also be too selfish for us to cling to them even if they are already in pain. Solovino lived a happy and loved life of 17 years with Jesusita, and that was all that matters.

A big thank you to Home Dog LA for helping Jesusita put Solovino in a peaceful eternal slumber.
