Neglected Dog Found Covered In Matted Fur, Rescuers Rush Over For Emergency Grooming.

As a groomer, Kari Falla is used to dealing with snarly fur and untrimmed claws. But when she came across a particular post on Facebook about a stray dog, she saw just how desperate he was.

The dog was found on a Florida highway and was rescued by some Good Samaritans, but they were unable to care for him, so a woman shared the pup’s story on a lost dog Facebook page with the hopes that someone could help. Kari saw the photos and knew she had to do something.

Offering to take him in and groom him, Kari noted that after a good wash and cut, he would have a better chance of getting adopted or finding his original owners.

Kari reached out to the woman who posted about the dog — it was already 10:30 p.m. at that point, but she didn’t bat an eye at possibly working through the night.

“They arrived at my shop at midnight and it took three hours to groom him. A normal groom only takes an hour-and-a-half,” Kari said. “When a dog is matted that badly, it can cause its blood flow to stop as well as bruising to the dog.”

She wrote updates on Facebook saying, “he couldn’t even walk” when he arrived at the groomer. “He was carried in. His hair was so matted they became casts all over his body.”

It was obvious that he was in so much pain, but as she began carefully removing the mats, the sweet boy’s personality emerged.

“Once we shaved him, he was wagging his tail and was so happy. I knew I did the right thing.” The pup was later named Lucky, and it’s pretty clear that he was just that.

After Lucky was shaved, he got the first bath he’d probably received in years.

But boy, what a difference a good haircut can make. It was later determined that Lucky is also deaf and blind, which makes the story even more miraculous.

After a full vet checkup and getting neutered, Lucky is now in a foster home while authorities try to find his original owners.

Share Lucky’s story to spread a little love and kindness today!
