A Stray Dog Was Run Over And Left For Dead, But Her Joyful Spirit Always Remained

This poor dog, named Joy, was ran over by a car in Greece and left on the street to suffer in pain.

Thankfully, she was rescued by volunteers from the Society For The Protection Of Stray Animals (SPAZ) and was taken to a clinic immediately.

She wound up having two shattered legs and pneumothorax caused by the impact of the crash. She stayed in a kennel with a sign on the door that read: “caution, in severe pain.” And in severe pain, she was.

Joy went through three difficult surgeries and was treated with heavy antibiotics for an infection on her front leg due to an aggressive virus. Her recovery was long, and at one point it seemed like she would never get better.

She stayed with a foster, named Elizabeth, who took her swimming every day for weeks and drove her to the vet every other day to be checked.

After a very arduous recovery, Joy finally made it to the end. All healed up, she can now live up to her name. Elizabeth promised Joy that she would one day be able to run again, and now she can! She sometimes still limps, while her legs are still healing, but thankfully she is no longer in pain.

Now Joy is looking for her forever home, so she can bring happiness to someone else’s life. She is a very sweet and friendly dog and is fully house-trained.
