Lonely Dog Sits At A Shelter For 2,531 Days Waiting For One Human To Love Her

Nobody wanted to give this dog a chance, but wait until you read the heartwarming ending...

As hard as no-kill animal shelters work to find the pets in their care permanent homes, every now and then there’s a dog that gets overlooked by potential adopters, despite the shelter’s best efforts.

Dahlia is one such dog. The American Staffordshire Terrier Mix has lived her whole life at the Humane Society in Santa Barbara. She arrived when she was 6 months old. Now 7 years old, volunteers at the shelter want to find their longest resident a forever home.

One of the shelter volunteers posted this adorable video of Daliah showing her enjoying all the attention and commented, “She is a really sweet, smart, loving, loyal big lap dog … Looking for a great single pet home for her. She will make someone really happy!”

Update:

The shelter’s plea did not fall on deaf ears. Shortly after the Humane Society put out their plea, Daliah found a loving home! A man from Orange County saw her story on the news and drove to the shelter to meet her.

The Humane Society could not be more happy. In a statement they said, “We are over the moon! For all of you that asked about how Dahlia is doing…she has found her forever home!! Thank you to everyone that shared her story and reached out to us!”
