Woman Adopts Senior Dog That Looks Identical To Her Dog That Recently Passed Away

"Adopting a senior dog is one of the most rewarding things you'll ever do! Thank you!"

Life has a funny way of making sure we cross paths with what we need.

A woman recently lost her beloved 13-year-old black Labrador named Bear. She spent the past couple of months mourning him. One day she came across a picture of a senior black lab mix that looked just like Bear on Pennsylvania SPCA Danville Center’s website.

She decided to head to the shelter to meet the adorable old dog. It must have been fate because the shelter dog’s name was also Bear. She instantly fell in love with the gray-muzzled boy and adopted him.

Bear was surrendered to the shelter after his owner passed away. According to the shelter, Bear loves, “lounging on the couch, going for walks, and saying hi to everyone he meets.”

He will spend the rest of his days in a loving home. Senior pets are often overlooked because of their age, but they have so much love to give.

The shelter posted his happily ever after story.

“His new owner immediately fell in love with him after seeing his pictures and hearing his story. She recently had to put to sleep her identical 13 year old black lab, also named Bear, a couple months ago. Thank you to all who shared his story and helped this match made in heaven!”

It is clear from the pictures posted that the woman and Bear are beyond happy. People praised the woman for adopting and commented on their adorable smiles. One person said, “Hard to say who looks happier!”

Another wrote, “Adopting a senior dog is one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do! Thank you!”

The saying “who rescued who” is so true when it comes to pets, especially seniors. Remember to adopt not shop!
