Ne.glec.ted Tiger Cub Gets Rescued From Circus, Makes An Incredible Recovery
In our animal stories we are used to hearing about dogs and cats being ne.glect.ed and suffer from that, but in today’s story we have a wild animal that had a similar experience.
Vicky Keahey, founder of Texas’ In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center, found a little tiger named Asha that was sick and in a te.rri.ble condition, but no one knows how she ended in this state.
The little animal weighed no more than 30 pounds and that was a clear sign of malnutrition, that weight is suitable for a 3 months old cub and Asha was 9 months old.
Vicki tried to find out what happened to the poor animal to be in such a weak state.
“I asked how could a 9-month-old tiger be that small,” she told The Dodo.
It turns out the little tiger was part of a traveling circus, and being kept with a bigger animal in its cage, she wasn’t allowed to eat, and beside this Asha had a te.rri.ble skin condition known as ringworm and the lack of medical care made her condition getting worse day by day.
So Vicky took the decision to take Asha away with her, and start to give the love and care the animal obviously needed, so she was taken to In-Sync Exotics to an isolated enclosure, reported The Dodo.
“Aasha’s bald spots covered almost her entire body and her skin was dry [with] cracked, darken areas and b.leed.ing,” Vicky said. “Every day, twice a day, I would go in and give Aasha medications and spend time with her. I knew I was going to have to handle her in order to get her well.”
The wild kitten started to look better than ever, after only one week of proper treatment.
“After eight weeks of treatments you could see little bits of fuzz growing back to [what once] bald spots,” the kind Vicky said.
But for Asha to have a full recovery it took almost 8 months.
“Within eight months she looked like a real tiger, and it was time to see how she would react to other tigers,” Vicky also said. And now she’s unrecognizable!
We are so happy for the cute Asha to get to this recovery this quick, thank you Vicky.
